Presentation Title

Agile and Data: Strategies for Scaling Agile Software

Presentation Abstract

This hands-on workshop begins with a project simulation where participants will directly learn about the differences between waterfall, mini-waterfall, and agile approaches to software development. It continues with an overview of agile software development, agile adoption and success rates (measurably higher than traditional success rates), agile development strategies, and the strategies for data professionals to interact effectively with agile teams. We will briefly explore the challenges surrounding traditional data strategies and the current status of data management and data quality within the IT industry. Effective agile data quality techniques such as agile data modeling, database refactoring, database regression testing, and continuous database integration will be explored. The workshop ends with a discussion of scaling factors and strategies for scaling agile to meet the real-world needs of modern organizations.
